PROFESSOR ISAAC KARANJA MWANGI is an Associate Professor of Planning and the Chair, Interim Committee of the Centre for Urban-Rural Linkages in Africa (CURLA), University of Nairobi. He recently, in 2021 and 2022, Co-Team led, jointly with Dr Remy Sietchiping (UN-HABITAT), the “Covid-19 Impacts on Transportation of Food and other Commodities in Urban-Rural Nexus (COVID-19 ITFCURN) project” that covered Cameroon, Kenya, Niger State (Nigeria), Senegal and Zimbabwe. The establishment of the Centre for Urban–Rural Linkages in Africa (CURLA) is an outcome of the project.

Prof. Patrick Maluki is an experienced trainer and researcher in Diplomacy, International Conflict Management, International Negotiation, International Mediation, International Political economy, human rights and governance, and peace-building issues. He is currently a senior lecturer at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, University of Nairobi. Maluki was trained in advanced Mediation by ACCORD between 28 and 30 September 2010. He has a 18 year training experience in Diplomatic Negotiation and International Mediation at the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies, International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) and at the National Defence College (NDC).

Ms. Shelmith Mwendwa

SHELMITH MWENDWA is a graduate from the Technical University of Kenya with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning. She has worked in various projects and institutions within and outside the planning profession.
Ms. Mwendwa has actively been involved in county and local development projects such as the Makueni County Spatial Plan (2019-2029), Murang’a County Spatial Plan (2015-2030), and Gatundu Integrated Strategic Urban Development Plan. During the projects, she was a GIS assistant offering her technical skills through site mapping and analysis.

Dr. Ralwala is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment and Design (FBED), University of Nairobi. He is a Registered Architect by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors, Kenya (BORAQS). He is also a Corporate Architect Member of Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). He is a member of the AAK Architects’ Chapter Research & Advocacy Committee. Dr. Ralwala earned his PhD (2017) with Academic Honorary Colours and Master of Architecture (2013), both from the University of Pretoria, and Bachelor of Architecture (1996) from the University of Nairobi.

DR. DENNIS MUTHAMA is a Lecturer in Real Estate studies with a specialization in land administration and management at the Department of Real Estate, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying at the University of Nairobi. He is a Land Economist by training who received his PhD in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada. He currently holds a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship position at the British Institute in Eastern Africa, Nairobi, Kenya.
Dr. Muthama has written extensively about issues dealing with the complex relationship between land tenure administration and peri-urban areas. In his work, he explored the effectiveness of official land tenure administration systems and street-level land administration officials in peri-urban contexts in Mombasa, Kenya. His ongoing research investigates the digitalization of land administration processes in rapidly urbanizing peripheries of Nairobi Metropolitan Region (NMR). To this end, his work has appeared in well-regarded peer-reviewed journals such as Urban Forum and Geomatica.
