Dr. Ralwala is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Built Environment and Design (FBED), University of Nairobi. He is a Registered Architect by the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors, Kenya (BORAQS). He is also a Corporate Architect Member of Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). He is a member of the AAK Architects’ Chapter Research & Advocacy Committee. Dr. Ralwala earned his PhD (2017) with Academic Honorary Colours and Master of Architecture (2013), both from the University of Pretoria, and Bachelor of Architecture (1996) from the University of Nairobi.

Dr. Ralwala teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervises postgraduate students in FBED. He is the current Alumni Champion for the Department of Architecture and a member and coordinator of the Alumni/ Departmental Fundraising Coordination Committee; a member and coordinator of the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) Validation/ Accreditation Committee; a member and coordinator of the Weekly Wednesday Seminar Committee; a member of the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) Development Committee; and the coordinator for First and Second Year Master of Urban Management Degree Programme.

Dr. Ralwala is a member of the Interim Committee and founding member of the Centre for Urban-Rural Linkages in Africa (CURLA), a partnership between the University of Nairobi and UN-Habitat. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society for academic excellence (University of Pretoria Chapter), a member of Nature Kenya, and a member of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).

Dr. Arch. Anthony is currently the External Examiner for postgraduate students at the Centre of Urban Studies (CUST) at JKUAT School of Architecture and Building Sciences. He is a recipient of the University of Nairobi’s Vice Chancellor’s Award of Excellence for Exemplary Performance in Staff Performance Appraisal in March 2022 (third place in FBED 2020-2021); December 2022 (first place in FBED 2021-2022); and November 2023 (second place in FBED 2022-2023). Dr. Ralwala has published widely in local and international journals. In 2019, he wrote the book Meaning in Kenyan Luo Vernacular Architecture, which has been translated into six languages: German; French; Italian; Russian; Spanish, and Portuguese. Dr. Ralwala has performed Technical Inspections and Institutional Quality Audit of several Universities in Kenya as a Peer Reviewer (Resource Person) for the Commission of University Education.
